Rights & Responsibilites in the Special Ed Process

As members of their child's IEP team, parents often feel like they have more questions than answers about their role, rights and responsibilities. Using the steps in the special education process as a framework, this workshop will provide participants with
an "advocacy toolbox" of information, resources and organizational tools and strategies, and answers to parents' most frequently asked special education questions.

Steps in the NH Special Education Process

Schools offer more than just instruction in reading, writing and arithmetic. A school's parent/student handbook and the
NH Curriculum Frameworks provide standards for a broad array of skills that are important for ALL students. Participants
will learn how these skills, which include social, organizational and problem solving skills,
can addressed in the IEP.
